    I used the JUMP STRATEGY and in the ones I added 10+4. Then took away 1 because 9 is the same as taking 1 away from 10.


    There were 226 cockatoos.

    I got the answer by using the friends to ten strategy. I did 124 + 220= 344 - 1 = 343

    I did 129 +100=229-3=226.

    100+200=300
    20+10=30
    4+9=13
    Therefore, 300+30+13= 343 kms
    So the train traveled for 343 kms altogether.

  16. I'm using the split strategy to solve the train maths problem.
    The train went from Sydney to Kiama=124km and then from Kiama to Canberra=219km

    124+219=

    100+200=300
    20+10=30
    4+9=13

    300+

    =343

    There for the train travelled a total distance of 343km.

  18. There were 226 cockatoos altogether I figured this out because I rounded up the number 97 to 100 then I added 100 to the number 129 which gives you the number 229 then I took away three which gives you the final product 226.
